Buy Nothing Day 1997:
Report from Canada
From: The Media Foundation Date: Thu, 4 Dec 1997 Subject: photos and storiesFROM Allan MacDonald, Marketing/Campaigns, Adbusters Magazine, Vancouver, CanadaBuy Nothing Day was the most successful campaign to date in Canada and the United States; hundreds of demonstrations, with media coverage including the New York Times and the Wall Street Journal. We also managed to raise the funds to air the BND tv ad three times on CNN, reaching millions of households.
This week, we have begun to sift through everything and are preparing a section on BND for the next issue of Adbusters Magazine. (We now have subscribers in twenty countries around the world, so would love to have as much international coverage as possible.) So... we need your help!
Could you please let your email contacts know (perhaps copy and send this message) that we are looking for photos, stories, home-made posters, fliers, anything and everything; I will make sure that all groups/individuals who send in materials receive a complimentary subscription to the magazine. (Last year, people from nine countries sent in photos and stories!) The deadline for receiving materials is around the first week of January, 1998; so we have about one month to go.
