Subject: Buy Nothing Day 1997 - News from Poland

Hallo from Poland!

We did it as well!

And we got first page at the lokal newspaper the day after and short report two days after in the biggest newspaper in the region. And there was "live" report from the action in the lical commercial radio!
That's the media result.

We have started with leaflets (Around 700-900) spreading them among people on the street. Thre was our friend "on chains" the best impressin I suppose. He walked around with tears painted on his face and asked people for a minute of talk and explained what happened to him aa he made too much shopping. People were generally surprised but interested. The weather was against us so not many people wanted to stop and talk to us-it was really cold and even started to rain.
Then we made a street theatre with the person who bought a few useless products packed in many boxes.

I'll send you pictures and translations of our leaflets next week (if you want).

I know that 28th a national commercial radio station was talking about BND in England but it was only an informational programme- I even couldn't listen to it as I was at work. I have sent them a fax with the info about our action but there was no answer.

Tommoriow I meet my greens so I'll ask them what were the reactions of people whom they talked. Bye!
