Buy Nothing Day 1999:
Acivities in Finland on Nov. 26
November 26
A lot is happening in Finland this year!
All national TV channels and lots of radio stations and newspapers are covering BND.
Among many other thingts, the first-year media students of our polytechnic are right now helping thousands of people struck by affluenza in the trenches in the downtown shopping hell of Helsinki.
They have put a field hospital where they even perform surgery:
They will be removing credit cards from the wallets near the hearts of hardened shoppers. These life-saving operations will stop growing malignant affluenza from spreading. To alleviate the post-operative shopping abstinence trauma, our medical staff administer grandma's black currant juice and therapeutic information on how to avoid relapses during the dangerous shopping season.
Our web site at www.luontoliitto.fi/bnd will contain the complete story with photos early next week.
Have good one!
